When someone practices extra knowledge, that man is busy with unnecessary knowledge unconsciously. Eventually that knowledge becomes a failure.

A Muslim does not need great knowledge to practice religion. Some knowledge is sufficient for prayer to keep faith. Fasting, Zakat, and Hajj do not need to acquire huge knowledge. The person who does not have the money to eat properly in the house, does not need Hajj. There is no need to gain the knowledge of Hajj. Such people do not try to make their own lives; the cost of Hajj can not carry the cost, but the knowledge of Hajj is sitting. Such a man acquired the knowledge of Hajj, but it became a failure.

Another Muslim has gained much knowledge, including Hinduism, Christianity, and Judaism. It may have some benefit to him. His familiarity may increase in society. But there was no welfare of the Muslim nation, the world humanity. By this he will not be able to earn any income. Because, in any public or private field, there is no such person's job.

In any society, there is no separate salary allowance or facilities for such people.

So if a Muslim man becomes a sea of knowledge of other religions, that knowledge will still become a failure of knowledge.

Likewise, to me, mathematics is a failure of knowledge. The contribution of mathematics to the improvement of human civilization is unacceptable. But in addition to mathematics, people can succeed and make a life. My life, real society, knowledge, and literary practice are not needed in the practice of calculus, higher mathematics, algebra, or arithmetic. যখন কেউ অতিরিক্ত জ্ঞানচর্চা করে, তখন সেই মানুষ নিজের অজান্তেই অপ্রয়োজনীয় জ্ঞান নিয়ে ব্যস্ত হয়। অবশেষে সেই জ্ঞানটাই বিফল জ্ঞানে পরিণত হয়।

একজন মুসলমান ধর্ম পালনের জন্য বিশাল জ্ঞানের দরকার নাই। ধর্মবিশ্বাস ঠিক রাখার জন্য কিছু জ্ঞান, নামাজ আদায়ের জন্য কিছু জ্ঞানই যথেষ্ট। রোজা, যাকাত ও হজ্জের বিশাল জ্ঞান অর্জনের দরকার নাই। যে লোকের ঘরে ঠিকমতো খাওয়া-দাওয়ার টাকা পয়সা নাই, সেই লোকের হজ্জেরও দরকার নাই। এরকম লোকের হজ্জের জ্ঞান অর্জনের কোনো দরকার নাই। এরকম লোক নিজের জীবন নির্বাহের চেষ্টা করেনা, অথচ হজ্জের জ্ঞান অর্জন করে বসে আছে। এরকম লোক হজ্জের জ্ঞান তো অর্জন করলো, কিন্তু সেটা বিফল জ্ঞানে পরিণত হলো।

আবার আরেকজন মুসলমান হিন্দু ধর্ম, খ্রিস্টান ধর্ম, ইহুদি ধর্মসহ আরো অনেক জ্ঞান অর্জন করেছেন। এতে হয়তো তিনির নিজের কোনো উপকার হতে পারে। কিন্তু তাতে মুসলমান জাতি, বিশ্ব মানবতার কোনো কল্যাণ হয়নি। এর দ্বারা তিনি কোনো উপার্জনও করতে পারবেননা। কেননা, সরকারি অথবা বেসরকারি কোনো ক্ষেত্রেই এরকম জ্ঞানের মানুষের চাকরির ব্যবস্থা নাই।

আবার কোনো সমাজে এরকম মানুষের জন্য আলাদা বেতন ভাতা অথবা সুযোগ সুবিধার ব্যবস্থা নাই।

তাই কোনো মুসলমান লোক যদি অন্য ধর্মের জ্ঞানের সাগরে পরিণত হয়ে যায়, তাহলেও সেই জ্ঞান বিফল জ্ঞানে পরিণত হবে।

তেমনি আমার কাছে গণিত হচ্ছে বিফল জ্ঞান। মানব সভ্যতার উন্নতিতে গণিতের অবদান অনস্বীকার্য। কিন্তু গণিত ছাড়াও মানুষ সফল হতে পারেন এবং জীবন নির্বাহ করতে পারেন। আমার জীবন, বাস্তব সমাজ, জ্ঞানার্জন ও সাহিত্য চর্চায় ক্যালকুলাস, উচ্চতর গণিত, বীজ গণিত, পাটী গণিতসহ কোনো গণিতেরই দরকার নাই। তাই গণিত হচ্ছে আমার কাছে বিফল জ্ঞান।
